Gimpel continues to be mean to his "niece" Mirke. 4-3-1914

The Gimpel Beynish cartoons are often cruel, mostly cruel about women. That's just how it was. And just as in the previous day's cartoon, Mirke is deemed khamets (leavened bread products forbidden/unwanted during Passover). Traditionally, the left-over bread is burned before the holiday begins.

April 3, 1914: He might have preferred taking somebody different along as a sample of his merchandise.
  1. Mirke: You're going out, uncle? Take me with you. I know you make a lot of matches.
  2. GB: People will certainly run along after me if I take you with me, but as for a match - feh!
  3. Mirke: You hear, uncle, you look like a born matchmaker. All the girls must love you.
  4. Jake: What? This is who you'd give me for a bride? Keep her, you can burn her along with the khamets.
  5. GB: You're going to make me lose customers. People will think all my girls are like you.

אַלס אַ סעמפּעל פֿון זײַן סחורה װאָלט ער געמעגט מיטנעהמען אין גאַס אימיצען אַנדערש.

מירקע: איהר געהט אין גאַז, פֿעטער? נעהמט מיך אױך מיט. איך װײס דאָך אַז אײַך מאַכען זיך אַ סך שידוכים.

גימפּעל בײניש: נאָכלױפֿען װעט מען מיר טאַקע יאָ, אַז איך װעל געהן מיט דיר אין גאַס, אָבער אַ שיצוך – פֿע!

מירקע: איהר הערט, פֿעטער, איהר זעהט אױס װיא אַ געבױרענער שדכן. אַלע מײדלעך דאַרפֿען אײַך ליעב האָבען.

דזשײק: װאָס? דאָס װילט איהר מיר געבען פֿאַר אַ כּלה? האַלט זי בײַ אײַך, װעט איהר זיא פֿאַרברענען אין חמץ.

גימפּעל בײניש: איבער דיר װעל איך פֿאַרליערען קאָסטימער. מען װעט מײנען אַז אַלע מײַנע מײדלעך זײַנען װיא דו.
