In which Gimpel learns people don't like the process server. 3-23-1914
When Moyshe Motl first appeared in the comic strip, his name was the other way around, Motl Moyshe. He began as an ad hoc partner in the matchmaking business, then a competitor. He became much more successful than Gimpel and had a nice office and expensive clothes. He also is not afraid to do other things when business is slek (slack). He occasionally has offered Gimpel other gigs - like shoveling snow for 16 cents.
March 23, 1914: He doesn't know yet that for a lot of people a summons is worse than a match.
- GB: To hell with your money-making activities. You're a bluffer. I'm not going to let you fool me any more.
- Moyshe Motl: And I tell you, with this you can earn money. It's just a summons to appear in court.
- Moyshe Motl: Take this paper and give it to that man. I'll give you a whole half-dollar.
- GB: Mister - heh heh heh! I want to give you this paper. Take it, it'll be a good deed on your part.
- GB: Robber, demon, why did you hit me? And why don't you want to take the paper? What's worrying you?

גימפּעל בײניש: מיסטער – הע-הע-הע! איך װיל אײַך דערלאַנגען אָט דעם פּאַפּיער, װיל איך. נעהמט איהם און פֿאַרדיענט זיך אַ מצוה.

גימפּעל בײניש: גזלן, רוצח, פֿאַרװאָס האָט איהר מיך געשלאָגען? און פֿאַרװאָס װילט איהר ניט נעהמען דעם פּאַפּיער? װאָס אאַרט אײַך?
