He ties them to a tree, they tie a dog to a rope, they bring him a mouse. His loafers. 6-10-1914, 6-11-1914, 6-12-1914

The second strip here uses a narrative point of view we've seen only a couple of times before.



June 10, 1914: His scheme is quite a good one, but whether it it will help his business, that's not so certain.
  1. Again already they are bothering me, the rascals? They're intolerable.
  2. I'm talking with somebody, obviously - so why do you get into the middle of it?
  3. It seems I'm putting an end to your loafing. Time doesn't stand still...
  4. And business doesn't fly. What do you think, that marriages grow on trees in America?
  5. Now we can talk business. Understand me: She's a girl who etc.

June 11, 1914: Yet another occurrence which doesn't begin to help our friend in his business.
  1. This is a dog on a rope - also, not at all dangerous.
  2. And these are the people holding the dog on the rope.
  3. This is our old friend, very busy discussing a match.
  4. And this is what happens to him and to the match because of the hound.
  5. What happens next, you yourself can surmise.


June 12, 1914: In short, he'll have to give his kids lessons in the business, because otherwise they'll continue to ruin it.
  1. GB: Listen to what I'm telling you, daughter. He's a young man, may I ...
  2. Motke: Papa, Notke has a fine thing to show you that he just now found...
  3. GB: Some day I'm going to do away with you loafers. Get out of my sight.
  4. GB: Well, show what you have and then let me attend to business.
  5. Notke: We grabbed a pretty little mouse, here it is. Do you want to hold it?
6-10-1914
זײַן ״סקים״ איז אַ גאַנץ גוטער, נאָר צי עס װעט העלפֿען צו ביזנעס איז ניט אַזױ זיכער.

שױן װידער דרעהט איהר מיר אַ קאָפּ, שקצים? עס איז ניט אױסצוהאַלטען פֿון זײ.

איך רײד דאָך עפּעס מיט אַ מענשען – װאָס-זשע מישט איהר מיר זיך אַרײַן?

דאַכט זיך, אַז איך׳ל מאַכען אַ סוף צו זײערע לױפֿערײ. דיא צײַט שטעהט ניט…

און ביזנעס פֿליהט ניט. װאָס מײנט איהר – עס װאַלגערען זיך עפּעס חתנים אין אַמעריקאַ?

איצט קענען מיר רעדען ביזנעס. פֿאַרשטעהט איהר מיך: זיא איז אַ מײדעל, קאָטאָריע אַ. ז. װ.

גלאַט אַ פּאַסירונג װאָס הױכט ניט אָן צו העלפֿען אונזער פֿרײַנד אין זײַנע ביזנעס.

דאָס איז אַ הונט אױפֿ׳ן שטריק – אַלזאָ, גאָר ניט געפֿעהרליך.

און דאָס זײַנען דיא מענשען װאָס האַלטען דעם הונט אױפֿ׳ן שטריק.

דאָס איז אונזער אַלטער פֿרײַנד, שטאַרק ביזי רײדענדיג אַ שידוך.

און דאָס װערט פֿון איהם און פֿון שידוך דורכ׳ן הונט.

הכּלל, ער װעט מוזען גיבען זײַנע קינדער לעסאָנס אין דיא ביזנעס. אַז ניט װעלען זײ װײַטער אױך קאַליע מאַכען.
