They shoot at Gimpel on the high seas 10-25-1914 - also, trenches



October 25, 1914: And if he'd known it was a submarine, could he have helped?
  1. Wow, what a ship this is! With so many guns like chimneys.
  2. Something is creeping out of the water; it looks like a big election cigar.
  3. Sh'ma Yisrael! There was a cracking sound and my ship is doing somersaults like in Coney Island.
  4. ...
  5. I'll look great after floating around here in the water so long.



The soldiers’ dwelling on the battlefield. What is this "trenches"? The hole in which the soldier eats, sleeps and conducts the war. Where one protects oneself from an enemy.

און װען ער זאָל געװען װיסען אַז עס איז אַ סאָבמאַרין װאָלט ער זיך דען געקענט העלפֿען?

או-װאָ, איז דאָס אַ שיף, מיט אַזעלכענע ביקסען, אַזױ װיא דיא קױמענעס.
